HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

Updated May 30, 2026

At Brooklyn Wild, we carefully track the research and regulations around prevention of public health concerns. Below is our current health and safety policy, based on guidelines from New York City and State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Please note that all class sales are final and we can't accommodate refunds.

Though it is not possible to eliminate all risk—whether from COVID-19, other illnesses or regular outdoor play—weighing risks is a regular part of our playwork model. We will enforce these safety policies to the best of our ability even as we prioritize meeting children's social, emotional, and physical needs. We will also continue to watch the latest medical research and government guidelines and update these policies according to recommended best practices.

We will:

RECOMMEND VACCINATION FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS

To keep our community as safe as possible, we ask all staff, volunteers, and students to be fully vaccinated.

ASK PARENTS TO KEEP CHILDREN AT HOME IF THEY ARE ILL

Parents are expected to assess the health of their child at the start of the school day or before they attend a Brooklyn Wild class. You should keep your child at home if:

  • Your child has a fever. Fever reducing medication may not be used when determining a child’s health. Children must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to class.

  • Your child is under a quarantine or self-monitoring guidance for any reason.

PLAY OUTSIDE AND SHELTER INDOORS WHEN CONDITIONS CHANGE

We're a program that takes place outdoors in all weather. The ventilation outside provides a much lower risk for contagion than being indoors. However, we visit indoor spaces, such as the library or Industry City, if the weather is forecast to be dangerous, such as smoke conditions or high wind.

MAINTAIN HAND WASHING AND THE USE OF HAND SANITIZERS

Hand hygiene remains a key way to reduce the risk of any infectious disease. Whenever hand washing stations are available, we will use soap and water to wash hands. In other circumstances, hand sanitizer will be offered. We recommend washing or sanitizing hands before snack, after using the bathroom, and as needed during class.
